Call for Future Play
The CFP is due July 8 [update: July 31] for Future Play, billed as the International Academic Conference on the Future of Game Design and Technology. It will be held at Michigan State University, October 13-15. Already on the lineup: John Buchanan (academic liason for EA), Chris Hecker, Ernest Adams, Brenda Harger, James Gee, Henry Jenkins, Greg Costikyan, and GTxA’s Michael Mateas giving the closing keynote.
Also there is a juried call for games — academic, experimental, independent and/or student games, due September 9.

You know, that image above that I took from the Future Play website is really unpleasant, isn’t it? Doesn’t exactly make you feel like going to the conference.

I am not sure if I should really give interested parties a chance to procrastinate further, but the CFP deadline has been extended to July 31, 2005.

It has a sort of “submit your indie games or DIE!” feel to it.

It seems a little strange that this conference has an “advisory committee”, but doesn’t have an explicitly named general chair, program chair, or program committee.

Jim,
There are three conference co-chairs. Brian Winn from MSU, Michael Katchabaw from University of Western Ontario and Jay Rajnovich from Algoma U.
I am the Conference Manager, so if you inquiries are of a general nature I am probably the best contact.
