Jaded Behind the Scenes

There’s a good discussion over at gamegirladvance about that jaded feeling that can set in with art/entertainment when you become a creator of it.

Update: More “behind the scenes” links just discovered, minus the jaded part.

A NYTimes article about game modding, amateur video game making, and the recent Unreal University symposium held at NC State. (I know Michael sent a few of his students there.)

Also, Game Matters, a new blog about game design and the game industry written by an accomplished developer, Scott Miller, of Duke Nukem and Max Payne fame. Since its inception there’s already been lots of great discussion, e.g. about the design behind Max Payne, royalties, and a new post continuing the discussion of “what is a game”. Another good one for the blogroll… Hopefully we’ll start to see more personal blogs from high-profile game developers like this!

And, by way of Game Matters, just discovered Intelligent Artifice, another prolific, like-minded blog on game and interactive narrative design issues, by a European game developer named Jurie Horneman. I’ve perused the archives a bit, there’s lots there…
