ph33r my 1337 artw0rkz

by Nick Montfort · , 11:44 am

Hanna made the mistake of mentioning the Killer Instinct exhibition to me before she blogged about it herself. It’s at the New Museum, and features pieces created by these artists who work with computer games, including 8-bit modder Cory Arcangel (mentioned before on here) and first-person appropriationist Eddo Stern (also mentioned). Perhaps in January I’ll get to see the exhibit.

Uh, is there an online dictionary going from, uh, whatever that language is called, to English?

I can do ph33r = fear but what is 1337? leet? that doesn’t mean anything?

    Yours sincerely,

    Old Fart.

P.S. No, I don’t use this stuff when SMSing. My mobile phone has text recognition software. Anyway, studies show that “SMS language” appears more often in national newspapers than in actual SMSes (see page 2).

If you want to search further on this curious phenomenon, Jill, you may wish to improve your language “skillz” by using a native interface.
