Façade at PAGDIG
Join us this Thursday March 9 at 7:30pm for a presentation about the development of Façade at my local indie dev hangout, the Portland Area Game Developer Interest Group (PAGDIG).
I’d make a joke about the rain in Portland, but that’s just a myth Portlanders perpetuate to keep too many Californians from moving here. ;-)

Coincidentally, the lone Senator trying to fledge a bill that would keep broadband providers from tiering the internet is a democrat from Oregon. Must be something about that state, its got the free spirit of Cali without the haze of smog, marijuana and self-congratulation.

I’ll be curious to hear the response you get from the local indie game scene (as well as a description of what the local indie game scene is like in Portland).

I’ve been to January’s meeting. There were about 8 people there, most of them working on smallish games. My sense is Portland is great place to develop indie games — low cost of living + nice lifestyle, but not much is happening here yet. A few studios have already come and gone, perhaps after the dotcom bust. The closest hotbed of development is 2.5 hours north, Seattle, perhaps where talent can easily be poached. :-)
Who knows, maybe this Facade presentation will bring a few folks more out of the woodwork.

Hm. I didn’t notice this when it was first posted. I didn’t realize you were in Portland!

Yup, moved here in January 2005, but just started attending PAGDIG meetings last December or so. I hope to make it April’s gathering, see you there…
